Hello I'm going to Nice for 2 weeks in March and thought it might be nice to go skiing for a few days. Can anyone recommend any resorts near there and is it easy to drive? We are beginners/intermediates. Thanks

Isola 2000. Only an hour from Nice. Good for what you are looking for too.
When in doubt?....Flat out.

Prato Nevoso/Artesina might be worth looking into, but possibly too far away at 2 or 3 hours travel?

Isola 2000 looks closest I think. Has anyone got a transfer from Nice airport before? I'm not keen driving up a mountain with snow chains etc thanks

There is a transfer from Nice airport to Isola and is cheap if I remember correctly.
When in doubt?....Flat out.

I've skied in Isola 2000 many times. It is very easy to get to by bus, and it takes 2 hours (often a bit less). The route is sponsored by the local government and costs 1€ each way, plus there is a bookable ski bus which last year was €17. The bus company is Santa Azur and goes via both terminals at NCE plus also the main train station in town. There are several hotels on the piste, Le Druos is probably the cheapest and is not too bad at all. The Pas de Loup put me up once when there were literally no rooms available due to a conference being on, and they were recently renovated. Take care to book something in advance during that property exhibition and at Easter!! The area is not huge, there's virtually no off-piste BUT it is very sweet, friendly and not too expensive. The Saint Saveur area is probably the most interesting but does suffer a bit with the sun, as does the sector opposite. There are apartments too, but you can easily just go for the day using the bus service at that price especially. The other resort, Auron, up the road is more traditional and some people prefer it, including, apparently the royal family of Monaco...
