This may be a silly question, but will the snow that recently fell over austria and more specifically St Anton remain there over the next three or so weeks if it doesnt snow again? Im not sure how long the snow remains at village elevation and how quickly the quality deteriorates.

The answer is yes - it will stay. There's a good snow depth there already and more snow is expected over the next week. The temps are also down so cant see a problem. In fact the biggest problem the Arlberg has at the moment is avalanche - especially with more snow and high winds forecast for the weekend...... I'm back there myself on Friday.

Don,t worry there's enough fallen and due to give you great conditions. Just left Soll and the last 5 days have seen incredible snow and its still falling. The people going through January are going to have a ball..
Green fields and travelling to glaciers or Scheffau 1st week, last 5 days more snow than they can handle and get pisted unfortunately, but great fun. Cant wait to get back out there soon as.

i am currently in St Anton and its sensational, they have been running the snow guns as much as possible to maintain and improve the cover.
