Hi all, I'm struggling to find consistent info on the open pistes and lifts in the Espace Killy. Some sources say pretty much everything is open including the connection between Tignes and Val, others say it's still less than half. Any ideas on the most reliable source? Thanks in advance!

Slowly opening - link to VDI working now.
This page should be updates fairly regularly.
Also watch webcams to see where people are skiing and which lifts are going.

That's great, thanks Andy. I've not been to Tignes or VDI before and am biting my nails down to the quick trying to figure out if it's worth persevering for New Year week or make a last minute change of plan to the US!

Love the snow dance vid by the way ;)

Don't worry, they'll be delaying the opening of some pistes to preserve them for the busy Christmas/new year period.

Well, if you are into some off-piste, powder etc. then switching to the West Cost of US might not be a bad idea. Pistes start taking a good shape (though it's warming up again, so snow-making will likely to be affected) but for anything else it will take another 1.5m of snow to fall. Not sure how likely it is. A friend is currently on a bump course in Tignes, says skiing on glacier is good and there are bumps that are skiable, but caution is needed as the snow cover is not optimal.

Looking at this, at the moment all the Tignes lifts are shut but a lot of the lifts and pistes are planned to be open later today, including the link to Val d'Isere:

And according to the link below, there are already a lot of lifts and pistes open in Val d'Isere:

Don't take your own skis, take rentals, make sure edges are sharp and you will be OK. Pistes are very hard and fast so take care of your speed, it will also help to avoid little rocks - the cover is thin.

Sound advice by VSB. Correlates with reports of conditions on other fora.
