J2Ski

AllyG posted Mar-2014

After a lot of discussion we have decided to go to Sauze d'Oulx, on 11th January 2015, for the next J2Ski group holiday.

20 of us who have been on a previous J2Ski group holiday have made a direct booking with the Sauze hotel.

There are 8 rooms still available in the Sauze hotel with Crystal, if anyone else is interested in coming with us. Their internet price is £535 per person for a shared twin/double room on half board, including return flights from Gatwick to Turin and transfers.

Or, if anyone wants to ski/board with us but doesn't want to stay in the Sauze, there are plenty of other hotels in the resort :)

It has taken a bit of wrangling and the usual emailing and phoning but we have made a definite booking now and would welcome seeing other J2Skiers in Sauze.

If you are looking for a mixed group to ski with who are all very friendly and top people (if I do say so myself) then come and join us.

We have had a blast the last 2 years and can cater for all abilities. No pressure to ski till you drop or stop for coffee every five mins. We just mix and match and go with the flow.

Don't be shy.......... ;-)

That is a very interesting a brave choice for your group.
I have been to Sauze twice, enjoyed the skiing, but we struggled with conditions as the snow fall is well known to be erratic to say the least.
I stayed in the Hotel Sauze one trip, and would never ever go back to it again. It had tiny cramped rooms which were very dated and electrics not working, no proper boot or ski room, food was pretty poor, and the hotel was ridiculously noisy - not just from people coming in and out at all hours after hitting the clubs, but because the corridors echo every single foot step from every single floor. Maybe and hopefully for your group things have changed since then, it was 5 years ago or so now.
The plus point is it its 2 minute walk to the Clotes chair, and skiing off the bottom run, provided theres enough snow for it to be open of course.

I don't wish to be negative, but I thought it worth passing my experience on.

I would return to Sauze again however, to a different accommodation, and only at a time when snow was falling or had just fallen. Its a really nice ski area.

Went to Sauze D'oulz for a pre Xmas blitz 3 years ago. Snow was good but not down to resort level but there are plenty of miles on the MW of course. Mid Jan should be better conditions for snow but it will be b****y cold and they have added quite a few more snow cannons to the lower bits. Never stayed at the Sauze though but the apres is lively all over!! Maybe I can join you in 2015 with a bit of luck!!

I wonder if the Hotel Sauze has changed owners or something?
Some very good reviews on Tripadvisor.....

All sounds fine for the price to me.

Also wondering how you can call it a J2Ski trip when obviously it was organized privately and your not inviting people to book with your group (discount) but to make their own arrangements with crystal?
Didn't see any of these discussions myself.

HELLO - Am I speaking the same language as some of those who have posted above?

We have always invited other J2Skiers to join in and I cannot see anything but welcome in my earlier comment, have I missed something?

Last year was done exactly the same way. We book the accommodation first so that we can get a big enough place reserved.

We have started with those that expressed an interest over the last 2 seasons. There is room in the Sauze Hotel for others who want to join us, which is why we have now invited anyone else who wants to come.

It is impossible to please everyone. AllyG does a brilliant job akin to herding cats to get this holiday organised.

We researched the resort and hotel and cannot comment on what it was like 5 years ago! We trust that those who have posted recently on Trip Advisor weren't telling porkies just to screw up our holiday. We are going in January, we expect it to be cold. We hope there is lots of snow and suspect that this is more likely at this time of year.

The snow gods have smiled on us the last 2 seasons, we hope that they will smile on us again in 2015. If they don't then at least we know that we will still have a good time, as we are a friendly bunch and intend to enjoy ourselves.

We also welcome newbies to the gang and were pleased that some new people and some old friends came this year. It was great fun.

Don't knock it till you have tried it.

Back up most of what baldy said really, I have never skied the Milky Way so I shall look forward to joining the group again this year ..... Can I add most people know by now that I go out of my way not to mix with the Brits whist on holidays so last year was a bit of a toe in the water for us ..... But I can honestly say I had a great time met some great people of all ages ( people seem to think it is just a geriatrics only trip)
And all my lot enjoyed it and I had to twist the wife's arm to go last year and she wants to go again, people can post as much negativity as they like as I don't really give a monkeys toss, as I know where I am going next January ....what about you .
