British Slopestylers show that Team GB are a force to be reckoned with

J2SkiChat posted Feb-2014

James 'Woodsy' Woods took 5th place in today's Men's Ski Slopestyle final to cap a great first week in the park for British skiers and snowboarders.

His 5th place followed 7th by Katie Summerhayes in the Women's Ski Slopestyle and Jenny Jones' historic bronze medal run in the Women's Snowboard Slopestyle at the weekend.

With Jamie Nicholls' 6th and Billy Morgan's 10th in the Men's Snowboard Slopestyle, it means that only Aimee Fuller in 17th finished outside the top 10 in the slopestyle events - a stunning set of results for this debut Olympic sport.

It certainly contrasts with Chemmy Alcott's 19th in the Women's Downhill - a good result for her, but paling in comparison with her freestyle team members.

The future is bright for British freestyle skiing and snowboarding - massive congratulations to everyone involved.

Aimee Fuller had the chance to put down an easier run which would probably have been enough to scrape into bronze. She gambled on a harder run and went for gold. She gets my respect for having the bottle to risk all, go big or go home.
She is young and will be back in 4 years, benefitting from the funding boost to freestyle.
