I booked flights ages ago to Zurich for 1/2 term (15-22 Feb) but havn't yet booked accommodation.

I want a good hotel with pool, 1/2 board in a family resort - we are 2 adults and 2 kids who ski very well (first year no ski school). So doesn't need to be a mega resort such as St. Anton, Lech etc.

Previously been to Hinterglemm for several years - loved it but kids were in ski school. Now they ski with us so less Km's required..

Want a pretty resort suitable for families.

Many thanks

I travelled to Zurich in December for a footie match but skiing was my ulterior motive. ;) we went to a resort called flumserberg. It's no more than 1hr drive from the airport. Not sure about a hotel with pool as we just shacked up in a basic one which was still very nice. Nice resort. Not huge but good enough for what you want. Switzerland as a rule is crazy expensive in my opinion though and for that reason won't ever be going back. We have skiied hinterglem for last 6-7 yrs and love it. Did France last year and twice this year and it's more costly BUT Switzerland is another level. Felt robbed every time I bought something. But hey-ho we're all different. Just my experience. Don't buy water on the a mountain.££££ ;) flumserberg is a great choice. Try it. Hope this helps.

Hi,

Have a look at the Montafon Valley in the Vorarlberg near the Swiss border. Train from Zurich airport via Zurich and Bludenz right into the centre of Schruns 2 hrs 37 mins. http://www.montafon.at/en

My tip: http://www.adler-montafon.com/2/en/ in St Anton im Montafon the urban train stop is across the street and from here its only minutes to Schruns or take the ski bus outside the hotel ( do not confuse with its big brother St Anton am Arlberg )

Happy skiing.

... and for those of you reading on here

Flumserberg, train from Zurich airport via Zurich to Unterterzen ( on week-ends there is a train shuttle from the airport train station all the way to Unterterzen )
Stay at Resort Walensee right by the lake steps from the train stop. The gondola from Unterterzen to Flumserberg is also only steps away across the street.
http://www.resortwalensee.com/

skiing here would keep experienced skiers busy for 3/4 days but then Pizol above Bad Ragaz is only a couple of train stops away and good for another day.

At this late stage, I would have thought it was a question of seeing what is available.

I would suggest playing around on a site like Booking.com and seeing whats available. You might need to be fairly open about where to go

By way of example, a quick search brought up this one in the Montafon area:

http://www.booking.com/hotel/at/sport-vitalhotel-bachmann.en-gb.html?sid=c760aaa0bd604ba1c455c782aa76dda7;dcid=1;checkin=2014-02-15;checkout=2014-02-22;in_a_group=on;widened_group=1;group_adults=1;group_children=1;age=12;group_adults=1;group_children=1;age=10;highlighted_facilites=103;group_rooms=29767509_83246642_0_17_2_0_0,29767507_83246642_0_17_2_0_0;srfid=f61e923a8a0be96b0223ab7ae1321c4e8d569bfcX1

You could also have a look at some of the tour operators for last minute offers. E.g.

Good luck with you search.

Engelberg is two hours by train (from the airport railway station direct to Lucerne, then change for the ZBB service to Engelberg railway station, which is walking distance from a huge choice of hotels of all price ranges. You can view, select and book through the resort website, www.engelberg.ch, which I've used several times before.
