Ladies Downhill Altenmarkt

Anybody see the ladies downhill at the weekend?

The course was insane: they started with a straight schuss down a 70 degree hill for about 200 metres reaching 120kph in about 5 seconds :shock: That's faster acceleration than a Ferrari :shock: :shock: :shock:.

After they get over the shock of that they have to start skiing while carrying insane speed. Very brave ladies indeed :wink:.

Yes I saw it. I loved the start, and the whole run to be honest. Makes a change really, as they normally make the women's downhill a little too 'safe' for my liking.

Certainly an aggressive start, pretty steep piste for sure, must be close to 45deg and looked icy i.e. good job they weren't expected to turn on it (does anyone know name of run?). Have to say if you look at the way professional skiers are training in gym now is certainly impressive commitment to go along with mental toughness. World away from people 15-20 odd years ago. Still must be awkward to walk or buy clothes when your legs are pumped up like these guys/girls.
