Hi everyone,

I guess all you French Alp passionate skiers know of the ban of hosts and I was very curious to hear how you find it? what could be alternative methods to get the best info on spots, lifts and of course cuisine :)

Looking forward,
Skitaa

I suppose you can find out about it in the same way as before, you will just have to get there yourself. There are also things like resort websites, resort reviews and piste maps...

Personally I have never really used them...even when I have stayed in a chalet with a "host" I found that I liked to go at my own pace and do my own exploring...and that the group did rather too much waiting around...it can only go at the speed of the slowest...they wee good for tips and different routes to try but I wont really miss them

If I was going skiing on my own, I think I would enjoy skiing on my own -)

Use companies that still offer the service. They are out there, under the radar.

Ski hosting is still popular, last week over half of our group of 37 went on one or both of the hosted days in Lech/Zurs or Sonnenkopf.
I went on the Sonnenkopf day, vis wasn't good but a bit of fresh snow was superb, having someone who knew their way around was invaluable while we made the most of the new snow.
I'd be interested to hear what people think of the new services being offered in France?

Interesting.

In what format?

I am off to Val Thorens on Sataurday and Crystal have said that they offer "free social skiing through Evolution 2 on a Sunday. The service is available in Avoriaz, Chamonix, La Clusaz, La Plagne, La Rosière, Les Arcs, Les Menuires, St Martin de Belleville, Tignes, Val d'Isère and Val Thorens"

So how is no different than before? Before Crystal used to do it themselves for 3 days a week
