Hi All,

After deciding we're definitely budgeting and not skiing in 2014.....we're skiing in 2014! So, we are on a super tight budget thus have to be slightly more flexible than usual on location etc. We've had good reviews from friends for Megeve so a group of us are looking around the area - I have found a Chalet in Notre-Dame de Bellecombe which ticks all the boxes but I can't find much information on the village so here I am!

1. It says 15 minutes to Megeve, from Notre-Dame de Bellecombe centre is this realistic?
2. Whilst the Diamant ski area seems okay is it easy enough to ski over to Megeve if we wanted to?
3. Any other pros/cons about the place I need to know about?#

Thoughts are that we'll go for 3/4 full days skiing so the Diamant area would keep us occupied for a day or two then we'd want more so could either drive or ski over to Megeve.

Thanks all
Nigel

Hi, we stayed there 5 years ago. It's a nice fairly small village. There are a few shops there, It will probably take you around 20 mins to drive to Megeve. I don't think you can ski to Megeve from there, although there was some talk of joining the Espace Diamant area with the Evasion Mont Blanc area. I don't think it has been done yet, that's a shame because it would be a huge ski area.
The skiing there is good, lots of tree lined runs and great views.
We would go back again.

Hi - we usually stay in St. Gervais and ski to Megeve from there. Last year we drove to Praz sur Arly and skied to Notre-Dame de Bellecombe from there. Combloux, Les Contamines and Les Houches are also quite easy to get to. It's a good base if you don't mind doing a bit of driving. My only advice would be to get up in good time and get to your destination car park by 9ish before it gets too busy (unless it's low season). Lots of places in that area have eating places on the slopes 'Hors Sac' where you are welcome to sit inside to eat your own picnic - ideal if you're on a budget and the weather isn't good enough to sit outside. We're going back this Christmas and New Year ..... might even bump into Mr W -)
The plan is.... there's no plan!

Hey All. Thanks for your help - just Booked Chalet L'Ancolie near the Princesse chair lift so a bit out of town but nearer than NDB.
