Have just booked a week in Soldeu from 27 Feb. Anyone know what the skiing is like there at the moment?

Skiing in Soldeu (GrandValira resort) is grate this winter. You won't be disappointed.

They are highly qualified in snow management and, by now, there is from 1 to 1,5 meters of snow on the slopes. This will most likely remain for the rest of the winter.

You have just to care about the wind, quite strong these days on the pyrenees... but who knows what the weather saves for you in late february!

Check out some videos from the Ninja at GrandValira, if you want to know more:

Been in Soldeu since Sunday. Two great days skiing, one good day, complete whiteout with all lifts closed today, similar conditions expected tomorrow and sun forecasted for saturday. The drive out of the country will be fun on sunday! The snow over the last 24 hours is the worst I have ever seen.

Don't you mean "best" you've ever seen?

It must be a nightmare when they close the lifts, just because its snowing hard.
I assume it was wind that caused the problem?
Luckily enough I've never been anywhere where they've closed the lifts, just found less people came out to play when it dumped it, strangely.

It seems to happen more in Andorra than the Alps ..... normally with just the one lift open

Well, lifts can handle some wind. But we are having extremely strong winds this last couple weeks. Up to 90km/h.
This is well beyond what lifts can handle...

Good news are this wind episodes don't last for long. Hope you can enjoy your skiing tomorrow man!

And remember: be a Ninja!

Soldeu is the only place I have skiied in 30 odd years where the lifts have been closed for wind! We like it there though (I know I keep saying that!!)

The snow in the Pyrenees is amazing at the moment - not so much the drive to get there!

Having said that we have had to cancel our trip skiing this weekend as I have fractured the tiniest bone in my foot!
