Hello All..

I need your help please.. I am 31 yo gal living in London, I am thinking of taking a career break and doing a ski season in French Alps. I have done a bit of research and I think that a chalet host looks like the best option.
So this is where I need your help...
Which resort would be best? I am a beginner skier and it would be great if I could improve my French while I am there..

Also, as much as I love my fellow brits I don't want to go to a resort that is like England with snow. I would love to work with some French people (as this will help improve my French) and it would be great to work with different nationalities as well as a few brits too!

I also want to have a good time and enjoy the après ski! As I am not 21 yo anymore :(, it would be good to party in a place where it's not too young but still fun!

After doing a lot of surfing the web, it has been suggested that to become a chalet host it's a good idea to do a 1 week cooking course??

Any suggestions on any of the above would be great??

Also some reassurance from any thirty somethings who have worked a season would be great too, a little nervous about leaving a good job behind.. but I have a need for an adventure in the slopes and finally learn how to ski properly!!! thank you :)

Wanttoskiplease, your best source for information and job opportunities right now is Natives website.

http://www.natives.co.uk/

The ski tour op industry uses them to find workers, and Natives also runs Job's Fairs which start soon for the coming winter. Good Luck 8)

You can apply directly to the companies. Here, for instance is Inghams:

The timing is quite good, but you need to get applying now, interviews are to be held over the next two weeks. For your area, the nearest location is Godalming.

Competition for jobs with them is great so you'll need to impress.

My advice. Just send out e-mails to accommodations/ touroperators directly etc ... A good chance that you will receive information and/or phonenumbers back.

Like Dave Mac mentions. Start applying now. Good luck.

How exciting! And good for you. Assuming things haven't changed over the last 20 years when I did my first season, you might find that you won't get a choice of which resort you go to, unless you go with a very specialised company in France, its always worth asking though, and as Dave M said now is the ideal time to be looking. Good luck and keep us updated!
