Novice Skiing Family

My family and I are coming to Munich mid-April and would like to take the opportunity to ski in Austria for the first time with 3 kids 10,9 and 4 :oops: :oops: :oops: for 3 days.

Wondering if anyone can recommend a ski resort preferable South of Munich which is family friendly and full of the white stuff. I have looked into Solden and St Anton.

Is it better to have a half board in hotel and for the hotel to sort out ski passes and ski hire or would it be better to rent a chalet or an apartment and sort the add ons separately? Estimated cost?

As a family we are true novices to skiing. I would prefer a ski school for the whole family so we can laugh at each other, joking aside is there a minimum age for ski school as I would also like my 4 year old to join in too.

Mid April really isn't the best time to be heading to Austria.
However, some places will still have snow. Solden is a decent suggestion, St Anton is NOT a place for novices, although round the corner at Lech you'd be ok.
Maybe also look at Hintertux down past Mayrhofen for lower costs.
Plenty of cheap accommodation in the Ziller Valley area if you have wheels to get you about.

Booking a hotel half board takes the hassle away of finding places to eat, and some hotels offer online packages with lift passes late season.

I think you need to pick a resort and then google that resorts tourist info office or website and they will have a list of accommodation available.

I suggest Obergurgl areas, just up the canyon from Solden. Great ski school for whole family. One of the higher altitude Austrian ski areas, so more likelihood of better snow conditions. Hotel Austria is great for families. Check the Obergurgl web site for closing dates and ski school sessions in mid April.
