Following on from Allys 'what have you learnt from this forum' thread, I realised that this winter I have picked up some very useful tips.

Usually I just go skiing and don't think about what I'm doing, perhaps its talking to you lot and realising I have the attention span of a goldfish, but this season I actually concentrated on my skiing, stopped occasionally to take in the views rather than belting down the mountain as fast as I could and improved my technique.

In particular I learnt how to ski through slush and heavy snow (thanks to daily tips from the hotelier who also happened to be a ski intructor trainer), I really thought about what I was doing and actually improved my ability to ski in different types of snow.

Anyone care to add?

Ha ha....the old shrinking trousers claim. I've noticed mine are suffering the safe complaint (including my work suit which is a bit odd to be honest)

That's very strange! I think my trousers are going the same way! maybe it is the cold weather that makes everything shrink (dont refer the obvious joke)?

Its been a good year:
two trips are better than one.
skiing with the family is really satisfying
wearing a helmet is really comfy in -18 and +8 degrees (leave it at that, don't need any opinions thank you...!)
Hiring Volkl RTM 74 Skis will hurt the wallet, cause now I want to buy some
if I'm not skiing then I'm kayaking.
