Hi All,

As usual would love to hear your advice on this one.

Planning my end of year trip already.

The idea is - to spend one week in La Rosiere (France/Italy Border) - and then travel for the second week to the next resort in Italy (north)

So any suggestions? Something that is within a Hired Taxi distance for a transfer from La Rosiere.

Remember as part of the ski through we will have already ski'ed La Thuile - so not there please.

Plan is to fly into Chambery and then fly back out of Turin for example.

Any recommendations welcome.

What do you like in a resort? Courmayeur is very nice and also Pila further down the Aosta valley-I rate Pila higher both relatively small resort but pletny to go at.

Courmayeur is about 2.5 hours from Milan. I really like Cervinia too but mostly as it allows you to ski in Zermatt.....

I'd recommend Cervinia due to it's height and link to Zermatt. It is at the far end of Aosta Valley, but you can get a bus from Aosta, probably with one change further down the valley, to keep the costs down.

Just come back from a week in La Thuile and having spent a day in both Courmayeur and Pila I'd vote for Pila. Is staying in Aosta and "commuting" to Courmayeur, Pila and Cervinia an option?

Keep this to yourself, but Monterosa looks amazing.

You have factored in that you will have to go "round" the mountain by road (ie. via the Mont Blanc Tunnel)at this time of year? All the mountain passes become pistes in winter. I'm not sure that any of the Italian resorts you have your eyes on are likely to meet your "Hired taxi distance"crieria. Better to fly into and out of Turin and ski over to La Rosiere rather than stay there. Unless you are planning to ski over to Italy with your luggage ...
