I just bought ELAN 175cm ski's and I think they're a bit too long for me.
I am an Intermediate level skier. I can run down both blue square & black diamond slopes quite easily with ski's that are probably 150cm long.

I'm 5 foot 7 or something, and I ski 166, and I was thinking of going a bit longer. 175 would be interesting.

They sound a little on the long side, piste skis now seem to be measuring up to the tip/middle of your nose and maybe middle of forehead for powder skis (rocker makes them effectively same size as your piste ski). You will grow into them but for sure will not help skiing whilst waiting for this. Rental might have been a better option.

The rule of thumb is the following;
beginner = tip at chin
Intermediate = tip at nose
Expert SL = 165 cm. 170 cm
Expert GS = 180 + cm
Expert Powder = 185 cm. and + 100 mm foot
Expert Alaska/Utah powder = 190 cm. and +110 mm foot

Mileeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees too long! As Pavelski says depends on a few more variables but my piste skis are 177cm and I'm 6'4" and 220lbs.

I am 5'5" and 154lbs, and always use 150cm skis, those you have bought are massive.
