Friends have booked into Hotel Relais des Alpes for a week HB on this date, i've tried to add on to the party with Crystal but told no availability or flights (Birmingham).....
Anyone have any thoughts on best way to sort it, prepared to get a cheap flight and B&B in resort to get out there... or if that hotel can be booked direct?

Is this a club hotel or privately run? A few weeks ago we went to an Austrian hotel with Crystal and when a single friend tried to join us via Crystal he was told nothing doing. When he contacted the hotel direct. they offered him accommodation and a transfer from Salzburg and he arranged his own flights.

I did a search for you on the net flight from Birmingham is around £160, found a couple of single rooms from around £350 for the dates and airport transfer is around 70 Euros.
Sure you can find cheaper accommodation if you look.
Or try and find an independent travel agent, not one of the chains.
