Just had this link sent to me via Facebook, I always enjoy watching the resorts turn white.

Wickers, you will be pleased to know that I had a good chat with a lady from Livigno on the Italian stand at the ski show.

The new cable car from the bottom of the town up to the Costa Dal Sol area is now complete, and she claims they have replaced two other lifts completely and will be adding another chair in from the town area.

They are also trying to increase the ski area, especially over the back side of Mottoloino, but at the moment there is an issue with wildlife. Her words went something like " We can hunt the animals, we can shoot the animals, we can cook and eat them, but we are not allowed to wake them up from a new piste!"

However, she thinks that an expansion may be allowed within a few years.

Yes the new lift was up and running a couple of seasons ago when I was last there, what I have seen
from the webcams is that they have given it a cosmetic make over so the surrounding area has recovered some what from the development.
I think Livigno could do with a few more advanced runs, being Italy they seem to over grade the
runs for the benefit of the fur coat brigade most of the blacks are nothing more than Red.
I'll have a chat with them tomorrow at the show and encourage them to get their fingers out and expand.

It was two seasons since I was last there, and the lift only went up to the first station, it was back on the old wooden chairlift after that to get up to the top. The cable car now goes all the way up.

Was that running like that when you were last there?

I was there March 2010 and it went up to the costaccia restaurant and then if memory serves a chair to the top of the blue run which runs down the line of the chair.

Thanks for the new webcam link IW, going again in Feb. Was last there Feb 2011. The new lift goes all the way up to Costaccia now, there is also another new lift further down past this one, may have replaced or is near lift 29.
