Ski Gurus,

I am planning a trip in January 2012 thru Italy for my family - we all ski except for my wife.

I need some advice on the best place to stay.

I am looking for a place that we can stay that is close to the slopes for 2 days of skiing but also in a village that will be interesting for my wife to stroll and check out.

I was thinking Bergamo but am up for suggestions.
We are travelling from Marseille to Venice during the trip.

Thanks in advance

Bergamo is pretty much in Milan-are you going to drive 2hrs every morning to ski?
I lived in Bormio for a season so know the road up from Milan and most of the resorts-they are fairly low i think

No I want to stay near the ski fields, somewhere my wife can enjoy whilst the rest ski.

Decided that I will travel via Milan then to Trentino. Looks like there's plenty of snow there and many interesting villages too. Folgarida is looking good ...
