Haven't been to Ellmau but have skiied there a couple of weeks ago. Some great wide runs from the top of the mountain and a nice one from top to bottom. I think it's no 80/81? Not sure about that tho. Nice run from the top of the mountain in Sheffau to the village.

Snosu,
Where abouts are you staying in town? Are you near the main street or up 'the hill'?

Its a nice place with a couple of decent bars.Very good value on and off the mountain. Absolutely loads of 'huts' that are all pretty good.
Make sure you ski over to Going. Deserted slopes. Theres a fantastic mountain hut on the return piste with a massive panoramic window & open 'fire' in the middle ( although the piste is a bit crap as it crosses a small road so may have to briefly take off ski's.
Pistes were well chopped up by the afternoon though.
Westendorf is good but quite a hike so make sure you give yourself plenty of time.
Enjoy

Thanks both - we're staying at The Landhof Hotel, according to the website we can ski back to it - not sure if that means we're up 'the hill'.

Just got back the Ski Welt last week stayed in Soll. The skiing all over was cracking. As for the " Theres a fantastic mountain hut on the return piste with a massive panoramic window & open 'fire' in the middle".over Going. We went there and I agree it looked marvelous but it was the only disappointment we had in regard to service all week, and the food was at best average. On the whole the eating houses on the moutains were great.

We really like the Skiwelt, and will manage another visit this season. The fantastic mountain hut above Going, that Frostbite mentions is the BrennerAlm, and is a great modern piece of alpine architecture, in traditional tyrol style. Good service and food, wiith a delightful little mountain chapel alongside.

One of the benefits of Ellmau is it's relative proximity to the slopes, a rarity in the Skiwelt.

DM is it easy to get there from 'N'?

Nelly, you could take the free bus from N to Hopfgarten and ski across although I'm not sure how long that would take.

I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain
