BASI Launch Ski Insurance
The Association of British Ski Instructors (BASI) has launched a customized travel and winter sports insurance scheme for all skiers and snowboarders, as part of a close collaboration with sports insurance specialist Dogtag.
To create the product, a small team of experienced and well-travelled BASI instructors got together with travel insurance experts. As would be expected, the resulting policy and cover options are tailored for snowsports enthusiasts. The scheme offers three levels of cover depending on proposed activities and risk. Policies can be on either a single trip or annual multi-trip basis.
Aside from the usual elements, the scheme includes cover for piste closure, piste rescue, off-piste search and rescue, equipment cover up to £2000 and cover for personal liability.

Good Find  I've had a quick skip through the small print.

It does look to me a though it's a brand marketing exercise, which is a shame. The Underwriter is the same one for Fogg Travel (for example)
The Annual Policy covers 17 days of skiing per year, though you can increase this by paying extra.
For folks who like to leave their skis unlocked at lunchtime, make sense of this!
Especially written for skiers then
For anyone who likes a day out on skins, communing with nature, just like Dogtag, this policy calls the activity Extreme
Your insurance is covered under master policy numbers WSRSB40091 – (01-06) specially arranged through Snowsport Insurance by
BASI travel insurance and insured by Union Reiseversicherung AG. Cover is provided for each passenger who is shown as having paid the insurance premiums and whose name is shown on the insurance certificate issued by Snowsport Insurance by BASI who are a trading
style of Dogtag Limited, an appointed representative of ITC Compliance, who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

- skis over five years old.
- ski equipment left unattended away from your personal holiday or trip accommodation except ski equipment left
between 6.00 am and 11.00 pm local time (during daytime)in the locked boot or covered luggage area of a motor vehicle where entry was gained by violent and forcible means.

As far as im aware the Basi Insurance is only for Members and their families but I could be wrong.
I dont think there are many insurance companies that insure unattended skis even if you lock them.

AFAIK Direct-Travel insure skis left unattended during the day, if they are locked onto available racking.
