get on the out side of a chairlift, dept on which foot you have strapped in, and good luck !
nah its really easy just point and go
but as above if you ride goofy you want to sit on the right side, and if you ride regular sit on the left side.
you so dont want to be in the middle %-6 !amazed !amazed !amazed

if i have goofy right (foot forward) and regular (left foot forward )the right way round

forget what the ski lift attendant tells you, keep both feet strapped in your bindings. Pull your self into position using the rails or ollie hop. As soon as you are ready to come off, your feet are in the bindings so you just board straight off. No messing!

Getting off the lift requires confidence more than anything else, because it is essential to have your weight on your front foot. Practice one foot in turns at the bottom of the hill. Toe side is easy. Heel side takes more time. In the States, you are taught not to use anticipation (pre rotating your upper body at the start of a turn) and this a perfectly vallied and smooth style to use for riding the hill. However, heel sides off the lift with one foot out are much easier if you do pre rotate your upper body in that direction and let your leg and board follow.

Get a very good / big stomp pad.
Get on the lift by yourself if poss or with a friend who snowboards.
Don't think about it for the whole lift journey - smoke a fag, take some photos. The more you think about it the worse it is.
As you approach the top lift up the bar and move your ass so you are sat almost sideways with you board pointing forward. Hold onto the back of the chair with your back arm and the front of the seat with your front arm. As the lift slows down, put your back foot on your stomp pad, put the board down, take off your front arm and move your back arm to the front of the seat. Use the set to pust off from and as you leave the chair glide down the hill as if you are boarding with both feet strapped in. It may help to have the toes of your back foot slightly over your edge and as you get to the bottom of the slpoe do a toe side turn and you will come to a stop.
Bear this in mind - Don't panic and eventhough you think you are going fast with one foot out you are not! May also help to scoot around one foot out to get comfortable with it.

Hope this helps

I agree with moremountain ... get a big stomp pad. When your learning I wouldn't recommend keeping both feet in your board, can be sore if you catch an edge and don't get the t bar away from you. Don't worry what side of the t bar you are on, it doesn't really matter and you will naturally become more comfortable with whichever side you prefer. The biggest tip I can give different from what everyone else has said is to keep looking ahead and not at your feet. That way you know what's coming and your brain will hopefully pass the right signals to your body!!

Take a deap breath and relax.... It's no harder than on skis, just different.

Potter around plenty at the bottom before you get on a lift just getting used to the difference between a board and skis. Do plenty of sliding about with only one foot in so you are better prepared.

HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!! the dreaded CHAIR LIFTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We all love to hate them. Its like taking your life into your own hands. Just go for it. If you are regular try and sit on the right and if your goofy try and sit on the keft. When your about to get off, shuffle forward. Wait untill your board is on the snow and hop off. Try to aim your board forward and put a bit of pressure on your toe edge which will take you round and out of the dismounting area. Dont worry about falling over just accept it as a learning curve. It takes everyone few times to crack it!

(I have been snowboarding for 8 years now and I am still scared of the lifts)
