Hello!
My friend and I are backpacking in Italy in a few weeks. We wanted to go snowboarding at Passo Stelvio for a day and have a few questions...
1) we are college students on a budget, where do we stay?
2) how do we get to the mountain if we don't have a private car?
3) where do we rent snowboards and get ski passes?

google is not showing the information that we need and coming from the US, its hard to look into! Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks so much,

Erika

Welcome to J2ski Snowbrdr13

Are you sure that Passo Stelvio will be open when you arrive in Italy? I only ask as the Stlvio pass doesn't usually open till end of May early June - and you need the pass to access the resort.

As for cheap accommodation, you mention the word backpacking so I am assuming you ar looking to stay in a hostel. Have you looked in and around Bormio? If you find a hostel locally you will probably find that they will arrange transfers, ski hire etc or will point you in the right direction!!

Hi if you are still in need of info about bormio i can help if you want to PM me-I spent the seson there. Never went up the glacier so dont know much about it but can put you in touch with people that do know about it-have shops/hotels/hire shops up there.
There is an excellent B&B in borio that was cheap during winter and im sure is cheaper during summer
