J2Ski

Mandy Baker posted Jan-2010

Guys

We have booked our first ski holiday, the other half gave it a whirl in school some 30 years ago and I have never been. Some friends recommended Borovets as a good place to go as the instructors were very good with them a couple of years ago. We have booked up to go on the 20th Feb, staying in the Samokov.

Can anyone give me a recent review for the Hotel Samokov, as the reviews I am coming across are years out of date.

Many thanks

I stayed in the Samakov two years ago. It's clean and it's warm and the food was edible most nights. :D

My advice would have been to book somewhere else to go skiing, but its a bit late now.
Best start praying for a massive improvement in snow conditions, but its over a month away so you have a chance.
Take plenty of American Dollars with you.

Hi ya

Returned 13 Feb from Samokov. Good hotel, food reasonable - good choice but definately not an English looking spread. Bath lovely, if nothing else it is worth staying here as not many other hotels have one and its heaven after a day on the slopes. Snow was excellent and in abundance. Centrally located. Titantic bar good for apres ski, just to the left of the slopes opposite the Rila. Only took Lev and not dollars? We are already looking to book same time next year. Hope this helps and have a good time.

Glad you had a good time and that you're planning another trip. My advice would definitely be to try somewhere other than Bulgaria. You'll be amazed when you see how much better it can be!!!

Not the first place we ve been but as taking kids couldnt fault it. Cheap, hospitable, easily accessible and everything to hand.
