Thinking about flying to Argentina from Ireland for 6 days skiing. Just looking or someone who has done it from Europe and to tell me it's worth the long haul. Also should I be flying into BA and get an internal flight or should I be flying to Santiago, Chile?

I can't tell you whether it is or isn't worth it as I am yet to ski in South America but I will confess that its a long way and I will only be doing it as I am already out here.

As for your 6 days skiing unless you have accounted for your long haul flights I would think that it would turn into more likely 5 days skiing.

I'm not sure of costings for direct flights to Santiago and BA but the cheapest internal flight is likely to be with Aerolineas Argentinas from BA.

A little daft I can handle, even a little crazy I can deal with. You see I've travelled Argentina before I just got the timing wrong and missed the skiing. I would be looking at a twelve day break. 2 days getting there and two back. That gives me a week of skiing, eating red meat and drinking red wine and beers. The fear is that the snow or the skiing won't be worth the journey.

I don't know anything about the skiing, but have a good time if you decide to go 8)

Search on the forum at www.tetongravity.com , it is a goldmine of information if you can sift through the sh*t. I wouldn't hesitate to go for even a week for the skiing (never having been myself). There are plenty resorts to look at in both Argentina and Chile.

I am off to snowboard in Chile in early July. A little worried about the snow, looking for it to start very soon, although they say it all arrives in 6 or 7 big dumps in Portillo, I am doing a 12 day trip from Germany, 24 hours travel either direction, 8 days riding and 2 nights in Santiago. To be honest would not do that journey for less time, especially if I had not picked up business class tickets for 50 quid with my air miles ;)

I am very excited and sat in front of two hours of Holby City last night petting my board on the sofa!!! It's getting ridiculous ;)
