This is seriously bad news, and not the kind of accident to really expect to come across in somewhere like this:

The story about Natasha Richardson is really shocking as she was on a green slope and just took a simple fall which she seemed to have just brushed off, only later she started to have complications.
It is not often you hear about people getting killed whilst skiing on piste.
Two people have been killed in Romania this year in avalanches at Sinaia ski resort, I have never been there myself but I have been told it is a very well run resort with a good safety record and apparently these guys were skiing down a recognised red slope at the time.
Very worrying

Very sad.

You have to put these stories in context though. You can kill yourself falling over in your living room.

Very true, steverandomno
Perhaps it is shocking because it does'nt happen very often, thank God

Very true. Its just sad when anyone dies or seriously hurts themeselves doing something they love, and when we rarely hear about such instances as well. But we all know the potential risks when we go to the mountains I guess.
