Perisher has the highest snow-making of any ski resort in Australia and combined with summer trail preparation on Mt Perisher; the resort's network will be better than ever before this coming winter.

The resort has invested $5.7 million dollars with new snowmaking covering the Happy Valley area and top to bottom on Towers Run, as part of Perisher's three-year $19 million dollar investment in snowmaking upgrades.

This extensive work, including significant rock removal on the popular Towers Run, will improve skiing and boarding experiences throughout the season.

Due to a good run of weather and a hard working team, the Happy Valley expansion was pretty much finished prior to Christmas. Perisher is now well on its way up Towers Run on Mt Perisher, with only about 200 metres to go before they reach the top.

For the expansion 8914m of piping was laid, 68 new snowguns installed taking the resort total to 271, 10.68 more hectares covered and the highest snowgun will be operating in Australia at 2,036m above sea level. Runs with snowmaking include Towers Run, Snowy Trails, Happy Valley T-bar, Crossroads and A line Front Valley.

I will never ski in Australia ever again, even if it is the last skiing on earth.

You must have had a bad one Pablo, although I confess that it's not a place I keep tabs on, so I don't know the average conditions.

I may have hit an exceptionally good year in Perisher, but it was certainly good skiing. Was odd though, driving past eucalyptus trees to get to the ski area.

It is definitely an experience, I wouldn't be in a hurry to recommend Mt Buller to anyone.. it was a lot like skiing in Scotland.. on a bad day!

Wow, must have been bad.

Our first visit was so good, when we had our 5 month trip driving round Aussie, through NSW,Queensland, Northern Territories, lots of outback, deserts, Alice springs, blah di blah - we had two pairs of skis strapped to the underside of the Ford Transit roof, ski boots tucked under the seats!

The Tranny did resemble a hastily re-fitted Marie Celeste!

Twas in 1974, so nae doots Perisher has all been redveloped several times.
