Can anyone help us with this one ?
We're looking at skiing over Christmas 2009 from around 16th December for 2 weeks, but we're not sure where the best snow is likely to be based on previous years. We've been to Vermont at Easter and they struggled for snow that particular year and we'be been to New Hampshire (Cranmore) at varying times (but not at Christmas) and have expeienced limited snow and heaps of it at separate times.
Any ideas where to go out of the two and what resorts try and ensure some decent amounts of snow by snow making for this time.
Some ideas of opening dates for 2008-2009 season would be useful.

No, we're flying planning on flying into Boston though. Any recommendations is good. We are familiar with lots of areas, we've been to Jay Peak before, but there's not much around other than ski activities. Wal-mart and shopping too would be good :)

Go West, can you get cheap flights in to SLC or Denver? Even as far as Calgary....

It needs to be Boston I'm afraid. I looked at Denver a a possibility, but to rent a private 3 bedroom house in any of the resorts is just way too expensive.

Rent a 3 bedroom house? You not just go for a Condo? If you do go West you will thank me later. Snow is probably going to be hit or miss wherever you go in the East so just pick where you want to be for the facilities and pray for snow!
