Guys

I have entered the world of fatter skis and have inadvertantly bought some skis by making a silly low bid that I didnt think would be accepted, but it has, and now I own a pair of Scott Patrol 178's. However, they dont have bindings, and I am looking for the first time at buying bindings alone without knowing much about what I need to look for!

My current skis have Marker M900's which have been great - they hold my boot firm but are easy in and out. I can get some of these for £45 online which seems reasonable.

However, someone is selling some Rossignol Axium 100 bindings on ebay, and I was wondering if anyone knew if these would be any good? The reviews I have found online suggest they are fine, but I wanted to test the knowledge on this site.

I will be using the skis for messing about on and off piste and having a little more fun than usual.

Any ideas - I need to know before 7.10pm tonight when the auction in question finishes.

Cheers

Is there a list of binding options you can go for?

There is a standard binding mount charge (about 25?!) at most shops in the UK so ordering online and getting them to your door to take to a shop shouldn't be too bad!

I am just concerned that this is an entry level ski and isn't what you were looking for.. at all really.

Bindings at that level are all much of a muchness, I believe. I would prefer the Axiums over the Markers if I was forced to choose, they generally have a better rep

It seems to get conflicting write ups, some saying its an entry level in terms of technicalities, other websites saying its perfect for advanced intermediates to venture off piste with.

I could always sell them on, or let my son have them....hes only skied 4 weeks....? Either way, they need bindings. You reckon the Rossi's would be ok then?

I'd go for the Axium's as well. Unlike Ross, I think the Patrol will be a perfect 1st off piste ski for you.

Make certain the bindings have the correct DIN range for you, and that the brakes are wide enough for that ski!
