Hi
I was wondering whether anyone could give me any info. Due to childrens activities!!! the only available time for us to go skiing is going to be beginning of April (Easter). Any ideas on where to go at such a time. Been to Bulgaria and last year went to Neiderau - would love to go back there but not sure if the resort is open then. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Ok, in that case be prepared for big price hikes going at that time though.

Wait until nearer the time and try and get a late deal to go to Zermatt or Verbier. I was in Vernier early last April and it was fantastic.
There are lots of other high resorts with glaciers, which I would recommend so that you are guaranteed skiing.
I would also recommend avoiding Easter Holiday period at all costs, but I guess from you post that its not an option.

Niderau is shut before the UK easter holidays so thats a no go! Bulgaria well thats a no go anytime of the year!
Everyone says go high and there are obvious reasons for this, but last year i was in wagrain and skied in at least a foot of fresh powder down to the village which is c.800/900m's!
Have a look on crystal they have some offers for catered chalets in verbier, avoriaz and meribel plus others where kids prices are around £200!

Niederau closes on 29th March. The Schatzberg at Auffach is open until 13th March, but the Niederau Hotels will be closed, and you would have to stay at Oberau, Muhltal or Auffach. This is really too late for the Tirol, and the chances are you would be skiing slush, at best.
Would go with Tony on this, go high.
My thinking is that there will be some good prices to be had for Easter, but will be subject to timing. Clearly, much of Europe is going to feel the effects of recession to a greater or lesser degree. So as it gets closer to the time, there may be some reducing in pricing. That will be recognised all over Europe, and is likely be soaked up, not least by teachers, and constrained parents. Hence, would not leave it too late.
It may pay to sign up to all the email alerts, having first short listed your resorts. If the UK TOs have a bad season, they may extend out the offer dates.
It's only second guessing, but the UK TOs do have bed and flight contracts to fulfil.

We have been to Samoens in the Grand Massif in April and have always had good snow. In fact, much better snow and quieter slopes than Feb HT.
If you go the Samoens website and search Easter you may find that hotels are doing free kids if 12 & under.
We stayed once at Neige et Roc and our 10 yo was free. If I remember this offer is for accommodation, lift pass and ski hire.
For a whole week half board for 4 it was much cheaper than had we taken them out of school. That hotel is now pretty expensive though, but others take part in the offer.
Samoens itself is quite warm in April as it is low. But the slopes are almost certain to have good snow.
In my experience driving to the slopes and booking independantly is the cheaper way in school hols. Also many tour operators have finished by then, so you could have a problem finding something.
Good luck.
