Hi,
I have come across a great deal for skiing in Chamrousse next year. There will be ten of us with experience ranging from beginner to intermediate/expert & I was wondering whether anyone can recommend the place.
I can't seem to find much information about the resort & would appreciate comments from anyone who has been.
Is it busy?
Would snow be guaranteed?
I was looking at travelling the last week in Jan or last week in Feb. Which would be more likely to have better conditions? I'm afraid I've only skied once before in America so don't really know when is good to go to France - I want to have snow but not for it to be too cold or conditions to be too difficult for the beginners.
I'd hate to go there & there not be enough snow - I've heard rumours that this has happened before - has anyone else?
Sorry that my questions probably seem quite silly but I'd appreciate any help as I don't want to be responsible for ruining all 10 people's holiday and putting the beginners off skiing for life!!
Thanks in advance :-)

Davster,
I have had a number of day trips to Chamrousse at different stages of the season.
My answers to your questions:
1 It is usually quiet on weekdays because the resort is not used by many foreign tour companies. It is very busy at weekends and on French public holidays because it is the nearest reasonably sized resort to Grenoble and lots of locals ski at these times.
2 In my experience the snow is usually good at the end of January and throughout February. January will be quieter. The last week of February is a French School half term week.
3 It will not be too cold for beginners if they have the right kit.
4 There are plenty of suitable runs for beginners as well as some decent skiing for experienced skiers.
5 It is an attractive resort with mainly French visitors.
I hope this helps.
