It makes more sense to use the train, you can also get a "Swiss Transfer Ticket" that will cover the return journey.
why would we need to? we have half price cards that work everywhere everyday of the year )

Any views on transferring from Zurich to Grindelwald. Is train preferrable to hiring a car. I'm due to go on 10 Feb.2008 and would like to hire a car but am a bit worried about driving in the snow or even perhaps getting snowed in.

ise is quite correct, the train is preferable.You won't need your car in the resort, and it might cost you to park it up for your stay. If you want a Swiss Transfer Ticket, you must buy it before you arrive in Switzerland. The natives can't buy them...sorry ise )
