I will be moving to Stuttgart in 2009 and am getting anxious about being near the Alps. What are some of the closer ski hills to Stuttgart? Any recommendations for getting a season pass? Do they even do that in Germany?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there, welcome to j2ski; you're in the right place :-
Here is a Map of Ski Resorts near Stuttgart.
I don't know much about the local resorts (sorry), but 2-3 hours drive will get you into Switzerland or Austria - with a big choice of good skiing.

Thanks for the link to the map! That thing is amazing!
I figured the closest best skiing/boarding would be down in Switzerland. Can't wait to check em out!!
Thanks again!

Hey tjwollert,
I live in Karlsruhe (about 45 mins from Stuttgart) and if I want a quickly arranged 2 days and 1 night I head for the Feldberg in the Black Forest. For some reason not on that map. Its probably a 2 hour drive from Stuttgart, it's an hour and a bit from here.
Its not the Alps (peak is about 1500m), but it's good enough and close!!!
Anyway check out the links (German only), they do a season pass for 260 € and you can get accomodation for as little as 25 € a night if you wanna make a weekend of it.
These are the prices.....

Some piccies.....

List of lifts, runs etc. (Click in the "mehr infos" button on the fifts and it will give you an idea of the length of the run)......

Hope that helps!

Hey Tino...thanks so much for the links! You're right, it isn't the Alps but hey, it's snow on a hill!!
Looks like I'll have to work on my German though...lots of blind clicking on that page...ha!
I'll definitely be looking at those links to get familiar with the place. Maybe even get a season pass.
Thanks again!
