Well I'm suffering withdrawl already, 6 days of riding a minimum of 6 hours on virtualy empty mountain with great on and off piste conditions. Now I sit in the office awaiting for the chaos to begin again next week :(

Was in Val on the 15th of December for a week and it all went pretty smoothly apart from the tour operator dumping 6 of us in the middle of the town with all our bags and boards and driving off - very useful - thank you Ski-France!!!

The snow got a little packed and tracked towards the end of the week, but the first 3 days were wonderful. One thing struck me about Val was the grading of the slopes, there seemed to be no sensible logic to it at all, greens that were tougher than some reds, blues with short sections of vertical drop - all very strange, kind of missed out on the French experience in La Plagne last year as I was just learning, but it seems a lot different to Austria & Germany.

Anyway explored the whole Espace Killy, haveing a couple of days over at Tignes. I must say Le Grande Motte is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been and there is some great reds coming down from it.

Val and Tignes themselves were a little busier than the rest of the range naturally, but the glacier at the top of La Fornet was empty all week, I spent my lat day just running from the Glacier back to the lift between La Fornet and Val d'Isere over and over again, total peace, no distractions, absolute bliss.

Now I am depressed.................

I suppose I will just have to cheer myself up with the fact I am off to Austria (Filzmoos) on the 26th Jan to board the Ski-Amade area :)
