We are going skiing in Germany for Christmas.
According to the snow report on this web site there will be 272cm of snow on the 22nd in Oberstdorf.
However, on uk.weather.com no snow will fall on the 22nd?!?!?
Who to beleive?

:D There must be something wrong with the report, 272cm of new snow would be apocalyptic, the weight of it would cause a gravity well that would suck in all of space and time and destroy the very fabric of the universe :D

Thanks ISE.
To be honest, I am not worried about the fact that it might destroy the very fabric of the universe :lol:.....just concerned about having to fit my snow chains...it was difficult enough during my trial run on Sunday :evil:

Yesss, a problem in our data feed - apparently 271.9 cm (to be precise) will fall in the space of, er, 3 hours... I think possibly not.
Normal service will be resumed shortly - you can stand-down your snow-chains... (and the universe is safe too - for the moment).

I'm intrigued to know that the record snowfall is though, a quick Google suggests Mt Seki in Japan at 2.1m in 24hrs. Any other ideas?

On the subject of Snow reports I would never trust the resort reports, they lie.
I was in Tahoe a couple of years ago and the lower base depth was reported as 125cm, I can only assume the reporter was colourblind and reporting the depth of the topsoil not snow, there was none.
Canada was similar, the snow depths they were reporting (300 cm+) were not accurate even if you counted the height of the drifts at the side of the road after the ploughs had added all the snow they lifted off the road. :roll:
