Given the recent snowfalls I'm gagging to get on the slopes asap. Does anybody know what resorts have pre-committed to opening by December 8th?
I'm probably going to fly into Geneva and looking for anywhere that will definitely be open within a 2 hour drive. Alternatively i'll head to Munich and go somewhere within 2-3 hours of there so Soll, Ellmau etc. Anybody know the definite openings at this stage?

You should try Alpe d`Huez. Its about 2 to 3 hours drive but I drove from Geneva last year and it not a bad drive. The resort is due to open on December 1st but was open at the weekend as there is plenty of snow.I was there last December and managed to ski every day even though most resorts had litle or no snow Alpe d`Huez was pretty good.
I liked it so much I`m going back again for a week on December 15th. :D

When in doubt?....Flat out.

if you plump for the Munich option consider Kitzbuhel, well within your driving time, this is open as is St Johann which skis on the back of the horn, although only open weekends now it is aiming to be fully open by the 8th
Have fun which ever you choose

Leysin http://www.leysin.ch/E/indexh.html had been open for the last 2 weekends
16th, 17th, and 18th November we had exceptional powder as good as any I have seen in January.

Lets hope that the snow stays and gives a good abse for Christmas skiing.
