Being a single person (and, to clarify, not interested in sharing a room), I have often been faced with what looks like a great holiday offer turning into a ridiculously expensive one because it's a double room and they want to charge me anything up to 75% loading for a single-person occupancy!
As I run my own business, I can go at short notice (two weeks or less), so I try to point out to operators that they can either have *someone* in a room and get paid for it, or be greedy and try to fill the room with two people and risk having nobody in it.
Unfortunately too many of them basically say "sorry, that's the price..."
I can't be the only person in this position, so can anyone recommend an operator that will do ski holidays for a single person at sensible prices?
FYI I'm UK based and probably looking for somewhere in Europe. I've done Chamonix, Three Valleys and Les Arcs in France and Ski Welt in Austria in the past, so something similar would be nice.
PS I've tried looking at booking Air BnB, self catering, arranging my own flights and transport etc, but it's a lot of hassle, lacks any support if there are problems and doesn't work out that much cheaper, so I'd prefer a simple basic package instead.

Back in the day, chalet companies used to offer a 'male share' as late-booking offers (splitting a twin room) and often the other half doesn't get booked, so you get the room to yourself. I'm not sure if this exists any more though, but maybe ask someone like Tim at www.chaletline.co.uk

I'm very familiar with Chaletline, Tim's helped me find most of my previous holidays! ;-)
I'm just looking for alternatives as a backup if they don't have any luck.

Ski Club of Great Britain run holidays, some of which are marked and priced as sole occupancy. Even when not marked as such, the single supplement wasn't excessive IIRC but maybe I got lucky.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've had a look at the SCGB site and the only holidays I can see are their Fresh Tracks instructional ones and I'm not really looking for training, just skiing.
If I feel like I need some pointers, I can pick up a lesson when I'm there.

Hi Graham. I'm not sure why you're not seeing what I can see on SCGB Freshtracks Holidays pages. I can see plenty with just social skiing, both for full weeks and weekends. For example, the following on-piste options: Davos, Obergurgl, Crans Montana, Nendaz, Bad Hofgastein, Baqueira, Grindelwald.
Some are labelled "PE" (Peak Experience, aimed at over 60s), but others are aimed at all ages.
Use the Single Room filter under 'more options' to narrow down your search. You can also filter by on piste, off-piste, all mountain, weekend, ability level, etc.

Thanks for that, I probably didn't explain my previous reply clearly.
What I meant was that I couldn't see any that were suitable for me at the dates/ prices offered :(
