Hi, am looking for some advice. We are in Chamonix for a week (next half term 2023) and looking to go to Courmayeur for the day; can you get the cable cars up and over (Aguile du midi etc) or do you have to take a bus? if you take the bus (in half term!) do you risk sitting in a queue for hours to get through the tunnel - are buses prioritised?

Thanks all

We've been offering Courmayeur since the early 80s so know the area well, but only know the Italian side of the area. You would need to take a bus through the tunnel. You can access Courmayeur from 3 places - there's the Val Veny cable car which would be the first you reach as you approach from France, or there is the main Courmayeur cable car from the town, or the Dolonne gondola which is just over the river.

While possible most of the time, I would not get the lift over the top. Takes too long and depending on your lift ticket you have bought, expensive as well. There is a regular bus service - best option

Greetings. Last time 2023, the bus left Chamonix and we were stuck in the tunnel queue for three hours, arriving at Courmeyer for ski at noon, and hungry. Lunch crowded. Suggest taking a private car around the mountain, that is quicker, and departing Cham at 8:00
