Omicron - Just brilliant...

Sigh..

I've been watching the Covid Entry Requirements like a hawk and the new measures to tackle Omicron.

So it all seemed OK, Pre Flight PCR, Proof of jabs, fill in the local locator form. All good.

And then the curve ball...

"They must quarantine in a suitable place until they receive a negative test result. If they're selected for arrival testing, they may take connecting flights to their place of quarantine."

OK, so I'm guessing, while you're waiting for a negative result you can "quarantine" at your destination in CA?

We were thinking of staying at a hotel at YVR if we were unlucky and got selected for arrival testing, not so sure now.

Anyone in a similar boat?

Looks like they've amended the wording (again) and said you can take public transport to your place of quarantine while waiting for your negative result.

Hi, my son has just flown to Canada and had to isolate for 2 days in hotel at Airport whilst he waited for results. He couldn't isolate at his accommodation in Banff as it was a hostel. Results took just under 48 hours to come back. Really confusing as some of his friends went out just after him and had no test and didn't have to isolate. Information is very sparse and confusing at moment but best be prepared to isolate. Hope this helps a bit.

Glad to hear your son managed to his result in 48 hours and thank you for the info, most helpful!

Hopefully, we'll be able to self isolate in Whistler (Condo stay) but yeah, totally agree its pretty random if you get tested.

On the Canadian Gov Covid site they state that in the near future they wan't to test 100% of incoming travelers? That's fine if they can self isolate at their place of stay but your son's experience highlights not everyone can do that.
