Hi,

I was planning to go to Tignes this Christmas for a week. But with the latest travel restrictions and continuing uncertainty, and not unlikely lockdown soon in France, I won't.

I am based in London and have never been skiing in Scotland. Can anyone recommend sensible options please. Which resort, or resorts? How to get there - drive or fly and hire a car? Where to stay? Is Christmas a sensible time?

Thanks
Paul

I've been there 5 times and always find Aviemore the best choice offering biggest number of runs.
Aviemore is a small tourist town offering a range of accommodation- we've used Airbnb, hotel, hostel and campervan
See website for info. https://www.cairngormmountain.co.uk/
Wind rain ice are always much more unpredictable than in the alps so you have to be prepared for anything. They say if you can ski in Scotland you can ski anywhere. Sadly the funicular train is out of service this season, probably leaving the T bar and pomel lifts to get to the higher level very busy.,Generally I find it a cosy experience- nice day lodge with log fire and good food. Prices not too bad and all levels of pistes. I drive from norwich taking two days in our campervan but it's possible to do it all in one day.
