Dolomites to require Covid Cert

Just got this message from the Dolomites:

"To access the lifts the EU QR code covid certificate (proof of vaccination, a negative test or recovery from the virus) is mandatory from the age of 12. The skipass, available online or at our selling points has to be activated daily with the EU QR code covid certificate. Additional, a surgical mask is compulsory on lifts with closed vehicles and the capacity on cable cars, gondolas and chairlifts with canopy will be reduced to 80 %."

If I understand the plans correctly, you will have to download their App and upload your cert onto the App. I don't know if this means that you will have to take out your phone at each lift to get through :roll:

I thought that unvaccinated are shortly not to be given access to lifts?

The situation in Italy is a bit complicated, depending on the number of cases / hospital bed occupancy each region is given a colour code https://www.salute.gov.it/portale/nuovocoronavirus/dettaglioContenutiNuovoCoronavirus.jsp?lingua=english&id=5367&area=nuovoCoronavirus&menu=vuoto At the moment most regions are 'White' so only a Basic Green Pass (QR code with proof of vaccination, recovery or a negative test) is required to buy a ski pass and enter a restaurant etc. If a region moves to 'Orange' a Super Green Pass will be required, negative tests will no longer be accepted. If a region moves to 'Red' a lockdown will be imposed and the ski lifts will close.

Wanderer, the NHS COVID Pass has been accepted as an equivalent to the EU Digital COVID Certificate so you shouldn't have to download another app. You may also have to show photo ID to prove that the certificate belongs to you. If you want to check that it works before you go you could download the VerificaC19 app.

I think you could also use a paper version of your QR code, I am going to print mine out, laminate it and attach it to my jacket with a retractable ski pass holder so that I don't have to take my phone out.

I think you will only have to show your QR code to get on the lifts that take you up from the villages, checks further up the lift systems don't make much sense, but it is Italy so you never know.

Italy has also reduced the length of time for which a Covid-19 vaccination certificate is valid from 12 to 9 months.

Ski holidays with teenagers not possible from 6 December. Unvaccinated teens to be banned from ski lifts and other public spaces from 6 December. Proof of antigen or PCR will no longer grant access to public spaces as Italy tightens its Green Pass rules. Travellers age 12 and over must be fully vaccinated or provide proof of recovery from recent infection to enter most public places.

Thanks Swingbeep. I am Irish and have the EU Covid Cert so that aspect is fine. The email from the Dolomites seemed to be suggesting that they are pushing people to download their App and to upload their cert onto that App. The skipass will still have to be "activated" daily to prove possession of the cert.

As you say, this will primarily be for the village lifts and should not be required higher up but it still would be a bit of a pain to have to take out your phone every time you hit a checked lift instead of just waving your arm past the sensors (with the liftpass in your sleeve pocket).

It could also be a problem if your phone battery dies during the day - a regular occurrance due to the cold :x

In Germany this week, we also had to carry our passports at all times as this was the only ID that they would accept when entering premises, etc.

We may need to get extra pockets on our jackets to carry all the paperwork :roll:.

Still, first world problems and glad to go through it all if it means we can get to ski this year 8) .

Friuli Venezia Giulia has moved to yellow because the thresholds for incidence, hospital and ICU admittances have all been exceeded. South Tyrol will probably go yellow next week.

I wouldn't rely too much on the information provided by UK news outlets.

Ski resorts try to get us to down load their apps because the can track us via them. The bit about lift pass activation having to be carried out for each ski day is a bit misleading, it's the Covid cert. that has to be checked every day.

Thanks, although this doesn't leave me any the wiser. Can British 12-15 year olds buy a lift pass in Italy still? Maybe yes, but not in Friuli Venezia Giulia? Thanks for your help
