Sauze trip 2022

Hi all I have just booked up with a party of 8 avid boarders / skiers, staying in Sauze, early Feb 2022.
We are booked in at the Hotel Hermitage. Any advice, tips or places we should visit during our week will be very much appreciated. Also if there are any web sites and web cams you can recommend, that will be very much appreciated.

Don't know the hotel. Great skiing get the pass for the whole area. Sauz is a town I like. Good restaurants and some bars. It had a name for a party town. But not that much night life. As for web sites Sauze on line . Always worth watching. The most negative aspects of Sauze is if high winds you can get confined to the Sauze runs which loose there charm after a few hours. I really like Sauze and try to go most years. Will be there early Jan . Unless Covid and governments prevent.

Sauze once had a reputation as a party town but seems to have rather lost that reputation and seems a pleasant place to go out for a quiet drink.

The Milky Way is a big resort and it's easy to access Sestriere and San Sicario. The link over to Sestriere can be affected by weather.

I will gladly go again at some point in the future. The Italian resorts tend to cater for those with Coeliac disease better than the French resorts which makes life easier when skiing with my eldest daughter so another thumbs up from me.

Is there a ski/mountain guide (usually one of the reps) service in the resort to show us the full range of ski runs and all the chair lifts available to us ?

Sauze is a lovely old town, you'll enjoy it. Not sure if tour operator's resort reps doing guided skiing but there's always an option to get a local guide from the ski school for a few hours or a day, it's not too expensive but they are much more knowledgeable than the reps (especially if it's their first season). But whatever you do, I'm sure you'll have a good time! Fingers crossed there will be lots of snow, no Covid restrictions and we can go skiing this season!

As you have booked Sauze and are looking forward to it, I wont share my opinion as it is not the same as the others.

I was there a couple of years ago when there had been a death on the slopes so they were being ultra cautious with a breathe of wind.

The ski bus you have to pay 2 euro for it - however far you go. We too stayed at the Hermitage, its about 500m from the lift (a road uphill, not walkable) and they charge you 2 euro....each trip. So no return or daily ticket possible.

Your best bet is to get the lift that is right next door to the hotel

Hotel rooms are very small food is average - but thats personal opinion.

The town as some great bars and restaurants and the food is not expensive at all. Atmosphere is so much better than France!

Take a look at Sauze on-line, it has the webcams that you can feast over every day - or is it just me that does that?
