Apparently Austria is now in lockdown until 6 Dec 20. Many ski areas were scheduled to open on or before 5 Dec, obviously that will not now happen. Some are now looking to open on 19 Dec, but not all have yet published revised dates.
Check the area website before you book/travel.
Skied: On snow, On water, On mud, On slush, On ice. Oh, and on a few dry slopes.

I realize this is the Austrian forum, but maybe it could be good to have a combined thread with local updates on the status of the ski areas around Europe.

Andorra's resorts were planning on opening November 28th but last week pushed it to December 4th due to Covid, but IMO, also due to it still being upwards of 20C here during daytime. Only the highest peaks show a bit of snow right now.

Today though Catalonia declared the schedule for their phased opening of free movement and its borders, and in worst case scenario the Catalonians may not be able to enter Andorra until January 18th. If so that would be a complete financial disaster for the country. Add to that France's lockdowns and the high possibility of the French choosing French resorts over Andorrans this season, even if the Andorran resorts do open. The mood among us living here is definitely not on top tonight.

I personally have said for a while that even if Andorra keeps its borders open there is not much they can do if Spain and France decide to close theirs. This can be an even more painful winter for this country than most have anticipated, which would lead to many years of lasting pain for a lot of people.

The ski industry has a choice or rather the govts of those countries, has it. Let the resorts open or suffer massive financial pain.
The question is beyond Covid now.

I dont see govts relaxing on border protocols which will mean a huge downturn in travellers, but at least resorts will partially open.
Many people just will not go under those terms in place currently, though, imv.
