Evening all

Hope you may be able to help with a query re resorts.

I am going around in circles - we (family 2 adults 2 children 12+11) want to ski for 4 days between Christmas + New Year and I cant decide on the best resort or that time of the year and a resort that will suit relatively new beginners (prefer blues to steep reds).

If you have any ideas - I am thinking of Champoluc/Pila/Alpi Di Siusi but not sure if they would be the best options.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hello Celia,
I know Alpe di Siusi quite well, as I normally go to Val Gardena. The area is ideal for beginners. Although the runs are marked as red, they are very wide and not particularly steep. You can get the local skipass or get the Dolomiti Superski (only if you want to venture out of the resort). Check if the local skipass covers Val Gardena, in which case you can, if you want, get the bus from Saltria to Monte Pana where you have a lovely red (and a steep black) or you can get the cable car to Ortisei and up on the other side to Seceda.
A colleague of mine went in March. They were staying in Siusi (I think). There's a cable car to get up to the top, where you can get a locker for your skis/skiboots.
I have been to Champolux a couple of times (a few years back though). Lovely ski area, although the runs are steeper and not as wide as in AdS.
I have never been to Pila, so can't comment but at Xmas/New Year may get very busy, given that it's Aosta ski area, with a cable car that starts from the town itself.
Mind you, not that the other two areas will be quiet........
If I can find out how to upload photos, I'll share a couple of the two ski areas

Champoluc

Alpe di Siusi
