Hi,
Have just booked a trip to Obergurgl for self and wife. Would appreciate any advice/tips on the resort etc from anyone who has skied there
In recent times. We are experienced intermediate skiers.
Thanks

Definitely go to the Nederhutte for the apres. You can ski back or grab a skidoo ride back, but a great place for table stomping :)

Don't forget to do your boots buckles up..lol, ..or dont, it is a simple flat track of a piste anyway back anyway.
Nice discerning resort, or was 20 years ago, the rowdier element get as far as Solden.

Just come back from my third trip to Obergurgl.

For less frenetic apres than the Nederhutte, try the Igloo Bar by the ice rink (quite small but very friendly) or really quirky the Barrel bar in the centre of town (very small!!!).

As for the skiing, in my opinion Hochgurgl is better than Obergurgl and the days we skiied in Obergurgl we spent most of the time in Hochgurgl. There is a gondola across from part way down red 12 or you can catch a bus from the Festkogel stop to the Downhill Grill stop.

The Star Bar in Hochgurgl (top of Wurmkogel II chair) is worth a visit at over 3,000m the views are spectacular. There is a steep black or a blue trail back down. Another good place to visit is the motorcycle museum on the far right at the bottom as you look at the piste map. (Top Mountain cross point, bottom of blue 41)

In Obergurgl I would not bother with the Hohe Mutte. Views are good but the red down is not great. We did not bother at with it this year.

Your ski pass also covers Solden and the skiing is better in Solden. I would recommend a trip there for at least one day if not more. It is only 20 minutes on the bus but take care as the regular (every 10 minute) buses back to Obergurgl stop shortly after 6pm. If you want to know more about Solden let me know as I have also skiied there quite a few times too.

Lunches - Riml Hotel in Hochgurgl has a lovely sun terrace and serves reasonably priced lunches whilst in Obergurgl David's Hutte is quite traditional.

Aftr the initial apres, the town is very quiet so party hard and go bed early!! Enjoy your trip!!!!
