Road conditions into La Rosiere

Socks are (probably) ok for getting around the village, but I honestly wouldn't risk them for the drive up. To be honest, the village itself is not exactly flat.
Get some chains. If more snow arrives when you do, then you'll quite possibly be stopped by the Gendarmes down in the valley if you've not got chains with you.
The road up has quite a few hair-pins, some of which have short steep bits, and there are some pretty spectacular drops you really don't want to be near if you're struggling for grip.
You've got time to get some and have a quick practice fitting them (might even come in handy in UK, depending where you are! 8) ).

Really grateful if anyone is able to comment? Are snow chains essential or are the roads in and around still ok?

Hi Matt,
They've just had a fair bit of snow, and there's more on the way, so quite possible/likely you'll need chains at some point - you definitely should have some with you in any case. Are you driving up today?

Wow! Thanks for the reply. It looks like you've got tons of snow which is great perfect. It must be quite difficult to get in and around the resort though? I haven't been there before so I don't know how steep the approach is - we travel in 14/15th. I'll be carrying snow socks.

Ok, chains it is! Better safe and as you say, if the road conditions are marginal the Gendarmes will be stopping and checking. Thanks again for the advice!!!!

If the weather is iffy snow chains would be required.
I remember it as a fun drive when the roads are dry in the Autumn before the snow arrives having done so a couple of time in the past in the TR6 but at this time of year snow chains may well be needed and essential to carry if the road is clear.

Just get some all season tyres. Work well in snow - may still need chains for ice
