The Million Pound Ski Holiday

J2SkiNews posted Aug-2018

A heliski operator has launched what the company believes may be the most expensive ski holiday ever with a £1 million price tag for a seven night holiday for up to 12 people.

Why so pricey? Well the holiday involves a week heli-skiing in Greenland, based aboard super yacht MV Cloudbreak which sleeps up to 12 guests in six bedrooms and carries a crew of 22. So it could well be good value.

The "ultimate heliski trip" has been is being offered by James Orr Heliski, a company which has been arranging adventure trips to different parts of the world for over 15 years – specialising in heli, cat and off-piste skiing holidays in destinations such as Canada, Japan, Italy, Nepal and Alaska.

For this package James Orr Heliski is working in exclusive partnership with SuperYachtsMonaco using MV Cloudbreak which is specially adapted to Arctic conditions, has a maximum speed of 15 knots, a range of 8,500 nautical miles and its own helipad.

Guests will fly directly from the ship with mountain guides and dropped on some of the most inaccessible mountains in the world. After experiencing multiple heli drops through the day, they are flown back to relax in the Christian Liaigre designed interior where gourmet meals and fine wines will be served.

The whole experience costs around £1 million per week depending on requirements and when split between the maximum amount of guests, this makes it over £83,000 per person.
"This really is the ultimate experience for the wealthy adventure seekers out there. Heliskiing has a reputation for being expensive, and despite the fact we have heliskiing holidays costing around £2,000 per person, this one is on the other end of the scale completely. Greenland is a spectacular place to ski and the remoteness means that it's possible to drop onto unclimbed mountains and make first descents. The ship itself is like a cross between the most advanced military hardware on the sea and a luxury 5* hotel, it really is completely unique," said James Orr.

Holidays are on offer in April and May, 2019 and cost from £1 million which includes 7 nights' accommodation, food, private helicopter, guide and staff but does not include travel to and from Greenland.

Hmm, looks interesting, but I think the single room supplement will be a bit of a deal breaker :o
