A note from our airport transfer partners Ski-Lifts, with an early warning to allow a little more time if travelling to or from Geneva airport on the first 3 weekends of March.

Although some of the advice applies to those with transfers already booked, there's useful info for anyone driving in or out.

MORE SNOW!! More snow is great news in terms of skiing, but it is causing some issues with flights, especially at Geneva Airport.

The French school holidays continue for large parts of France and will likely add to the volume of traffic on the roads on the weekend of the 3rd March. In anticipation of this pick up times will be set for departure transfers to the airport early to allow for anticipated weather and traffic conditions.

Following the French school holidays, the Geneva motor show is held from the 8th-18th of March. We're expecting the roads around Geneva Airport to be very busy on the weekends of the 10th and 17th of March. Once again, pick up times will be set for departure transfers earlier than normal at certain parts of the day to allow for potential traffic delays.

Just a reminder that private transfer pick-up times can be chosen at the time of booking or up to 3 days before travel, but after that pick-up times will be confirmed the day before as normal and we can't guarantee any flexibility on changing times once they are confirmed. We would recommend not selecting pick-up times but allowing these to be scheduled based on the points we have mentioned.

Other than that, all this snow means we are on for another great month of skiing in the Alps!! Enjoy the snow, everyone.

I am off to Les Arcs on Saturday and can wholeheartedly agree with the comment about the GVA motor show causing delays. In 2016 we left 1950 with 5 hours to get to the airport, plenty of time. We hit BSM at the same time as the rest of europe it seems. We ended up going back up the mountainy to find another route - for some reason the driver went through GVA town centre. We got to the airport as the check in desk was closing. We then had the fight of security.

Moral or the story, leave as much time as you can. Personally, I would rather be overly early for the flight than rushing. It got to the stage where my mate was looking on his phone for the next BA flight to UK as it was almost certain that he had missed this one.

Dont say fly to Chambery, it's not as easy as that for us with about 15 people to satisfy and not such thing as a half decent shared transfer to 1950

That said, we will be leaving GVA at about 1700 - hopefully a bit quieter as you wont get the usual daytime traffic plus motor show. But who knows!!

I'll report en route if I get bored and the revels have run out!

you can get to the airport from Annecy without going through Switzerland at all or even the toll roads... there is a little road over the hills and go in on the French side 1.5hrs

Yes, we used to do that when we had a hire car. So much easier.

Having left the airport at 5pm the traffic round the airport was fine. However usual queues in the usual places

Unfortunately one family in the party had all of their luggage left in Heathrow so they had to wait another couple of hours waiting for it to catch them up.
