Olympic Men's Downhill and Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle Competitions Postponed

J2SkiNews posted Feb-2018

The men's downhill competition and the women's snowboard slopestyle qualifiers at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics that was due to be staged earlier today have both been postponed due to strong winds, gusting to 45mph, at the Jeongseon Alpine Centre in PyeongChang.

The men's downhill has been rescheduled for 11am on Thursday 15th February whilst for the Women's slopestyle contest, which features Britain's Aimee Fuller, all competitors will now qualify for an expanded final tomorrow morning.

The men's downhill will now take the time slot allocated to the men's super-G which has been rescheduled to be run 24 hours later on Friday 16th at 11am.

There are no British competitors in the men's downhill which will see the surprise winner at the 2014 Games, Austria's Matthias Mayer (pictured top), at the time little known on the World Cup circuit, defending his title against leading challengers Switzerland's Beat Feuz and Norway's Aksel Lund Svindal and Kjetil Jansrud amongst many others.
