I have a long weekend booked in La Thuile (Planibel). Currently have car hire booked at Geneva airport but just noticed aosta express do transfers at roughly same price (3 of us) by the time I've paid petrol, tunnel charges etc. Any advice on self drive v shared transfer. Will get an hour or two more piste time self drive but conscious of state of roads, driving tired back to airport, but also of potentially missing transfer if flight delayed. How easy is drive to La Thuile ?

...and you'll have a car if you want to do a day in, e.g., Courmayeur...
I don't think there's anything horrendous about the drive up to La Thuile but, of course, you'll be doing the driving, digging out the car, and maybe putting chains on in a blizzard (every skier should have to do this occasionally!) if the weather dictates.
Extra piste time, and flexibility win it for me but it's your call. 8)
