If you ever leave the Piste, this is stuff you need to know... stay safe!

With massive amounts of snow having fallen in the Alps over the last few weeks, now is a good time to refresh (or get started with!) your knowledge of Avalanche Safety.

We've posted a lot of resources in earlier posts to this part of the forum - so it's worth having a read back to see what you can pick up. And there's a huge array of useful resources on the Internet you can use to increase your knowledge and keep yourself and your friends and family out of trouble.

So where to start?

There's a useful collection of "warning sign" videos on the Youtube channel for the Tirol Avalanche Warning Service.

Here's the first of their "Danger Pattern" videos, covering the "Deep Persistent Weak Layer" ...
